What is Cub Scouts?
Cub Scouts is a youth program for boys and girls ages 5-10 (kindergarten through 5th grade). It focuses on character development, outdoor skills, and fun activities. Scouts work toward badges, participate in community service, and build friendships with peers.
What age groups are in Cub Scouts?
Cub Scouts is divided into multiple dens based on grade level:
Lion (Kindergarten)

Is Cub Scouts for boys only?
No! Cub Scouts welcomes all genders. Boys and girls can participate equally in all activities and advancement opportunities.
What is the cost to join Cub Scouts?

What kinds of activities do Cub Scouts do?

How often does Pack 111 meet?
Pack 111 meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 PM in the Camino Grove Elementary Multi Purpose Room. Dens may also meet separately, typically on the second Wednesday of each month.
Do we go camping?
Yes! Cub Scouts includes regular camping trips. We typically camp 4-6 times per year. Camping is a core part of the Cub Scout experience where scouts learn outdoor skills, build confidence, and create memories.
What should my child bring to meetings and activities?
Requirements vary by activity. For regular meetings, scouts typically bring:
Uniform for pack and den meetings
Scout book for Den meetings

Do scouts need a uniform?
Yes, scouts wear the official Cub Scout uniform. It includes a shirt with the pack number and badges, pants, neckerchief and neckerchief slide, belt, socks, and hat. Some items are optional, such as a hat. The uniform is a symbol of membership and pride. Uniform costs vary, and we can help guide you on where to purchase items. A total uniform can typically run around $110.
Where can I buy uniforms?

Some uniforms are hand-me-downs.
Do I need to be a parent to volunteer?
No! While most volunteers are parents, we welcome community members, relatives, and other adults who are interested in mentoring young scouts.

Do volunteers need training?
Absolutely! All volunteers and leaders must complete background checks and basic training through the Scouting America. This ensures a safe environment for all scouts.
How does Pack 111 ensure scout safety?
Scout safety is our top priority and taken very seriously. We follow BSA safety guidelines, conduct background checks on all volunteers, maintain appropriate adult-to-scout ratios, and provide training on youth protection.
Scouts will be taught on how to be safe and protect themselves, use the buddy system, and identify potential safety issues.
Leaders are undergo Youth Protection Training every two years, and must complete the training before an application is processed. Leaders are also trained on the signs of abuse and on the proper procedures for reporting suspected abuse.
What is the youth protection policy?
Scouting America has strict youth protection policies to keep scouts safe. All volunteers are trained and screened. Parents are encouraged to discuss any concerns with pack leadership.
Can parents attend activities and meetings?
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend pack meetings and many activities.
How do scouts advance through Cub Scouts?
Scouts advance by completing activities and earning adventures within their den and pack. Each rank has specific requirements and achievements. Scouts progress at their own pace with support from their den leader.
What are Adventures?
Cub Scouts earn Adventures that are specific to their grade and rank. A number of Adventures must be completed to earn the badge of rank for each grade level. Completion of Adventures is how the aims of character, citizenship, leadership, and personal fitness are developed.
What happens after Cub Scouts?
After 5th grade, scouts typically transition to Scouts BSA in 6th grade. Cub Scouts provides a foundation for continued scouting throughout the teen years and beyond.
